Speech & Language Therapy
Communication is more than the words that are said
In the midst of the school day, middle school students are required to multitask. They are required to organize information, comprehend material, engage with others and express thoughts in order to complete tasks successfully. As the curriculum progresses during the school year, students need to strengthen their skills to finish activities such as solve word problems, participate in Socratic seminars, respond to DBQs and writing argumentative essays. Developing strategies during speech and language sessions which can support tasks such as these is the goal. The classroom teachers and myself work together to effectively provide strategies to the students which can be implemented in the therapy room and the classroom.
