We have started by creating a class definition of music.
Music is Sound Purposefully Arranged Over Time.
Music Definition Analysis
Students listened to multiple examples and were asked to provide evidence they heard to support each part of the definition of music (Sound, Time, Purposeful Arrangement)
Sound - What did you hear/What was specifically making the sound?
Time - What changes in the sounds did you hear happening over time?
Purposeful Arrangement - What did you hear that made you think these sounds were arranged in a purposeful way?
Students were also given the option to make case that the example did not fit our definition of music if they felt it did not have evidence to support part of our definition.
Students recorded their evidence on an organizer given in class.
Students who did not complete the assignment in class can listen to examples here and submit assignment to still receive credit.

Listening Examples
Music Definition Analysis - Compare/Contrast
Students will view two different examples (Imaginary Landscape #4 / Wind Chimes) and determine which example fits our class definition of music better.
They will do this by providing evidence from both examples to support each part of the definition and explain which examples fits the definition better based on the evidence they have presented.
Students should check Jupiter for specific due dates
Assignment can be completed on the assignment sheet OR on Google Classroom
