Course Description

In my class, students will be studying United States History from the study of the indigenous people of North and South America through the Civil War.  Some highlights of study include:  Colonization, The American Revolution, Creation of a New Nation, The Office of President, Challenges to the Constitution, and The Civil War.

During their social studies class, there will be a strong emphasis on discussing historical topics in their small groups. Students will also be challenged to speak in front of the whole class as part of their group roles. Public speaking and working in collaborative groups are directly in line with the new Common Core Standards that relate to College and Career Readiness.
